USDMA Reviews Rescue Operations for Stranded Trekkers and Mountaineers in Uttarakhand.
28 September 2026 | Dehradun: Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) at IT Park and reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operations for trekkers and mountaineers stranded in the high-altitude areas of Uttarakhand. In Uttarkashi, 40 of the 137 stranded people had been safely rescued, while the remaining rescue operation was scheduled to resume the following morning. Eight helicopters were deployed, with a heli-ambulance kept on standby for medical emergencies. The Chief Minister directed USDMA and all concerned agencies to maintain close coordination and make the safety of every trekker, mountaineer and porter the highest priority. He also reviewed Char Dham arrangements and directed the preparation of a long-term solid waste management plan for major religious and tourist destinations.
