Geographic Information System (GIS) is a very effective tool in disaster management.

In the disaster relief phase, GIS, coupled with Global Positioning System (GPS) is extremely useful in search and rescue operations in areas that have been affected by disaster especially where it is difficult to find one’s bearings.

Applying GIS, DDMA has successfully accomplished following goals in district: –

    • Develop database of all Polling Booths
    • Database of all major NHs, SHs, MDRs, ODRs and village roads
    • Resource Inventory of equipment’s
    • Detail of helipads and mobile towers
    • Detail of Health and education centers and other facilities
    • Among various aspects of Disaster Management ‘Communication’ is one of the most critical requirements for conveying Information,
    • Warning, Orders and Commands. For this DDMA has set up
    • Digital Satellite Phone Terminal in DEOC.
    • Bulk SMS Alert Information System.
    • Wireless Communication in all Tehsil Control Rooms.
    • Handheld Wireless Sets for all SDMs& Tehsildars.

Wastemanagement is a big problem faced by India , due to rapid population growth, a lack of public awareness and negligible involvement of public. An excellentsolid waste management also helps in providing a cleaner environment having lowpollution level
