USDMA Issues Safety Directives Following IMD Orange Alert for Five Districts.
The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA), on 29 October 2026, reviewed disaster preparedness following the IMD’s Orange Alert for Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Chamoli districts. Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Shri Vinod Kumar Suman, chaired a meeting with concerned district officials and directed all departments to remain on high alert and ensure necessary precautionary measures. The review focused on public safety, Char Dham Yatra route monitoring, road clearance arrangements, emergency response readiness and timely relief for hailstorm-affected people. Directions were also issued to expedite proposals for financial assistance and protective measures against falling rocks in the Chidbasa area.
